About Full Council
Full Council’s Mandate:
Full council with the pastor, shall oversee the doctrine and life of the members of the congregation and fellow office bearers, shall exercise admonition and discipline along with pastoral care in the congregation, shall participate in and promote evangelism, and shall defend the faith. (Manual CRC govt. P. 113) All council members represent Christ, the Lord, in the corporate life of His people and shall give servant leadership in His name. It is crucial that they model, teach, inspire and reinforce Christ-likeness among believers. They must maintain true and pure preaching and teaching of the Word, regular celebration of the sacraments, faithful counsel and discipline. They must know the Scriptures and pray continually for the church. (crcna.org) They will adhere to the promises they made when they were installed as elders and deacons according to the form of ordination pg. 1004 Psalter Hymnal (see also 1 Tim.3:2-7, 1 Pet. 5:1-3).
